Wonder Con 2011 - Day Three

The 2011 Wonder Con was the 25th anniversary for the event and the third and final day was not going to be cut short. Session ran well into the early evening hours and the exhibit hall floor was filled with activity. Fanboy Headquarters spent the final day picking up exclusives, talking to artists and gathering the last hoped-for autographs of the weekend before the long drive home.
The morning started off with the exciting Dr. Who panel, which was in contest with the Green Lantern movie panel for the longest line of the weekend - still not sure who won that one. Dr. Who fans were sure to be counted and received a great exclusive t-shirt as a thank you for waiting in line so long. On the floor of the exhibit hall, DC Comics started the morning out with signings for Human Target and Terra Nova including stars from both projects. Brightboy (an avid Human Target fan) was quick to get in line to draw a “golden ticket” for a chance to meet the cast - and like Charlie with the Chocolate Factory, won with great excitement! At the signing, the cast (Mark Valley, Jack Earle Haley, and Janet _______) were all smiles and laughs, telling everyone they’re awaiting word just like the fans about the new season. Confirmation from Fox on Season 3 of Human Target should be coming in the next month. Cinemax hosted the stars of its upcoming new show Femme Fatales to sign autographs and take pictures with fans and Hotshot was there to catch the beauties and see some footage for the show - let’s just say it looks like true blood crossed with nip/tuck minus the vampires.
Sunday being the last day for Wonder Con didn’t mean the cosplayers stayed home or dressed “normal.” There were plenty of great costumes all over the place. Check out our photo album for photos of these great costumes.
Artists and writers from the industry made it a point to stick around until the final hours too (not always the case at other cons and shows). Talking with new and old fans alike. Fanboy Headquarters talked again with one of their favorites, Joel Gomez and picked up the sketch covers he did for them of Cyclops and Spiderman. Frank Quitely (All-Star Superman) did a signing toward the end of the day shortly after his appearance at the DC Comics Icons panel. J.T. Krul, Beth Sotelo, Joe Benitez, Sergio Argonnes, Len Wein, and many more were there until the lights shut down to close out a great weekend.
The 3rd day was a little less busy for us at Fanboy Headquarters but still very fun! Check out FanboyHQ.com for our Wonder Con sum-ups soon!
