Joel said that one of his favorite experiences while working on covers was learning the little nuances of the characters that he never noticed before. Scott and Dave, they work as a team, discussed how their favorite part of working on Brightest Day was just being able to work with Firestorm since they grew up reading those books. Now that Brightest Day is over, each artist mentioned that they are now working on new projects. Joel just finished a one shot issue featuring the Reverse Flash for the Flashpoint series. That issue will be hitting stores on June 29th. Dave and Scott stated that they will be working on some upcoming issues of Batman Inc and to keep an eye out for them in the near future.
After the panel was over, I went to the exhibit hall to take a look around. I noticed that Ethan Van Sciver was in attendance, so I went to see if he would sign my Absolute edition of Green Lantern: Rebirth. Gladly, he obliged and even drew a little sketch of Hal Jordan reciting the oath. As he was sketching away, I got to ask him a few questions about any future projects he may have coming up. All he could say was that he was working on a top secret project with Gail Simone that will be announced pretty soon. He also said that he was very excited to be working with Gail on the project because he is excited to see the direction in which that franchise is headed.
Overall,it was a fun and informative day. It was good to hear the thoughts of the artists working on the recently concluded Brightest Day storyline. The next coming months will be interesting to see what DC Comics will be putting out. Tomorrow there will be another DC Comics panel which will most likely go more in depth as to what will be coming to comic shop near you.
