"The Sandman," the comic book series written by Neil Gaiman is in the early stages of being adapted into a TV series."Sandman" is published by DC Comics under its Vertigo label, is one of the few comic books to be on the New York Times Bestsellers List, along with "Watchmen" and the "Dark Knight Returns". It was one of the comics that helped establish the Vertigo imprint and won several awards. It also gained a following of non-comic book readers, particularly a devoted female following.
Warner Bros. TV is in the process of acquiring television rights from sister company DC Entertainment and in talks with several writer-producers about adapting the comic series. One of the top names being thrown around is Eric Kripke, creator of the WB hit show "Supernatural."
