Grant Morrison Leaving Action Comics And Batman Incorporated To Focus On Other Works

In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Grant Morrison revealed that he is going to step away from any superhero work for the forseeable future. Morrison explains,

"I'm coming to the end of long runs and stories I've had planned in my notebooks for years and the stuff I'm developing now is quite different.

The "Action Comics" run concludes with issue #16, "Batman Incorporated" wraps up my take with issue #12, and after that I don't have any plans for monthly superhero books for a while. "Multiversity" is eight issues and I'm 30-odd pages into a Wonder Woman project but those are finite stories.

I'm not saying that I'll never write superheroes again. It's just that my relationship to them has changed especially after finishing the book and I'm not sure if I want to maintain the same kind of relentless level of production."

Morrison will take his time away from superheroes to focus on his upcoming Image series, Happy!, his four-issue series with Darick Robertson.

There has not yet been any announcement from DC Entertainment as to who will be taking over the writing duties from Morrison on either book.

Batman Inc #3 Delayed Due To Aurora, Colo. Shooting

DC Entertainment today had announced that it will be delaying the release of "Batman Inc #3" for one month in light of the recent shooting in Aurora, Colo. The delay is due to fact that some of the content in the new issue may be perceived as insensitive in nature due to recent events.

"Out of respect for the victims and families in Aurora, Colo., DC Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of "Batman Inc. #3" for one month because the comic contains content that may be perceived as insensitive in light of recent events," DC Entertainment said in a statement.

Twelve people were killed and 58 were left injured in a shooting that occured last Friday at a midnight screening of the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises".

While DC did not give any specifics of the exact nature of the "insensitive" content of the issue, Chris Burnham, the illustrator of the series, posted on Twitter that the delay was "due some grim imagery that would seem wholly inappropriate given the Aurora killings."

The new release date for the issue will be Aug 22.

Best of San Diego Comic Con 2012

It has been three days since Comic Con International came to a close. My “Con Hangover” or “Con-lag” or whatever term you like to use has been fixed. But as I go through all the photos, SWAG, and exclusives I still have a strong “high” from walking the exhibit hall floor or sitting through a panel in Hall H, even the feeling of being lemmings in a crowded line. This year’s Con was bigger than ever and the SWAG & Exclusives were over the top. I would like to share some of my best of’s and worst of’s from the geek-a-palooza. READ MORE>

Martin’s Comic Con Day 4 Sum Up

By the fourth and final day of San Diego Comic Con word had gotten out that to get a seat in Hall H one must camp out in line hours before the panels begin. And with no panels in Ballroom, Hall H was the biggest stage for Sunday. I was up and in line by 3am and still ended up waiting down by the marina behind the convention center. Why was I so committed to Hall H after four long days? The Doctor Who cast was appearing in Hall H and talking about the 50th anniversary season starting this Fall (plus I have a huge crush on Karen Gillian). And after a few panels I set out to explore the exhibit hall and Gaslamp Quarter one last time before ending another amazing weekend at San Diego Comic Con. READ MORE>

Martin’s Comic Con Day 3 Sum Up (Part 2)

Day three of Comic Con was so big I couldn’t fit it all in one post. The final part of the day and one of the most anticipated panels of the weekend, was the Marvel Studios presentation on Iron Man 3 and other franchises. Kevin Fiege did not disappoint the fans and brought the properly dubbed Phase 2 of Marvel Films to Hall H. There were updates on sequels to Captain America, Thor and Iron Man as well as two new titles confirmed in development, Guardians of the Galaxy and Antman. READ MORE>

Martin’s Comic Con Day 3 Sum Up (Part 1)

The third day of Comic Con’s panels was probably the biggest of the weekend. Between Hall H and Ballroom 20, the lines ran out the backside of the convention center and down to the beach shore; at one point the backs of the line bumped into each other. Fortunately, Con Safety Buddies, Guy and Paul, were able to get in line early and get us great seats for the Hall H’s day of big programming. Hall H hosted Django Unchained, Warner Bros. and Legendary Studios films, and Marvel’s Phase 2 of films. Read on for details for some of the biggest films coming our way in the next year (and then some). READ MORE>
