With less than 30 days before launch, the developers of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are not being shy when it comes to revealing new characters to its lineup. Over the last several months the company has been revealing pairs of characters with pictures, videos, and screen shots. Today they revealed their two newest characters. These reveals leave fans wanting to get their hands on the game right away and drawing new fans from all over.First, Akuma, who has been a staple of the “versus series” since the second game, was shown in a video facing off in true “Marvel vs. Capcom” fashion, showcasing his special and super moves. By looking at the video, many of his moves have been re-done to look great with the new engine powering the game. Also revealed was the Taskmaster. The Taskmaster possesses photographic reflexes which means that he can reproduce any action by simply witnessing it. This ability should prove to be interesting for the gameplay because this would mean that he would be able to “copy” any player in the game, thus making him one of the most flexible characters in the game.
When Capcom announced this game back in Spring 2009, they said that this game would have at least 30 characters with roughly a third of them characters that will be new to the series. It seems the Capcom is following through with that promise and more. So far the character roster has been a pretty impressive one. One can wonder what else they can have up their sleeve and how many more characters they have left to reveal. The release date is coming up quick (February 15, 2011) and I’m very curious to see what else they can do to keep up the excitement for the game. This game has been a long time coming, and the bar has been set very high; it seems that they are delivering thus far.
