Sunday already?! Where did the week go? Then again, I had seen a lot over the course of the first 3 days of Comic Con and I hope from my posts, you felt the same way. I was going to try to beat all the Tom Welling fans to the Ballroom 20 line in morning (needed to be there at 4), but decided to sleep in since the good people over at www.kryptonsite.com were going to live tweet the cast and producers comments on Twitter. Instead, I hit the Exhibit Hall floor first thing and rushed to get some of the goodies that I had missed out on while waiting in line on the other days.
Items like the Warner Bros. limited edition, Smallville/Supernatural small tote bag. Anyone can have a GIANT tote bag, but only a special group of people each morning got these nifty little bags filled with great goodies like Bugs Bunny ears, a Harry Potter lego keychain, Vampire Diaries mints and a Clash of the Titans Shield. I walked the exhibit hall floor for another 2 hours collecting and grabbing all the free things I could as well as snapping a few photos (see the slideshow below). SWAG Collecting included: the Comic Con Edition of TV guide for the coming week, 4 different covers featuring Fringe, Smallville, Vampire Diaries and The Big Bang Theory. I also grabbed a Starro mask, Red Hood mask, and another Green Lantern mask. Along the way I was also able to have my picture taken on Odin’s Throne (from the set of Marvel’s new film, Thor) and get my official Avengers ID card. At the TVTime booth I got a Star Trek Watch, Big Bang Theory Sharpies, Showtime TV Show buttons for Dexter, Californication, Weeds, and Nurse Jackie, and a Star Trek Enterprise pin. At the Expendables movie booth, they were passing out big temporary tattoos (might fit on the side of Stallone’s bicep but it wraps all the way around my arm). At the DC comics booth I grabbed the buttons for the Legion of Superheroes, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern. I also grabbed copies of the new Flash, Brightest Day, and Green Lantern comics, as well as, a Green Lantern ring, Flash Ring, and Black Lantern ring. I know what you’re thinking, “what in the world is a Green Lantern Ring?” Check out the Comic Con slideshow featuring pictures of all the SWAG and various panel shots, celebrity sightings and much more – Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
After walking the floor for a couple hours, it was time to get hit the fulfillment room and collect the rest of my goodies from the panels of the last few days. The Fulfillment Room is a ballroom at a neighboring hotel where Comic Con volunteers wait all day to exchange raffle tickets for the various trinkets, shirts and posters that are given away during panels. Usually I get right to the room to collect anything but this year I was very interested to stay in my sessions and watch each panel intently. Little did I know, A LOT of people wait until Sunday. The line wrapped out of the hall, down a driveway and into a parking garage. Thankfully, the line moves quick and I was able to get my Steve Rogers/Captain America Tshirt, Thor Tshirt, and Cowboys & Aliens Tshirt.
Afterwards, I decided to hit the “offsite” attractions to collect SWAG that I missed by being in the convention center. The SyFy channel had reps, tied to giant balloons with the SyFy logo, wondering the Gaslamp District passing out SyFy Mega Tote bags and a collection of 10 pins featuring many of SyFy’s tv shows. I grabbed a set of each, every time I passed on of the balloon people (you can thank me later Josh). Next it was off to Brett Reid’s garage – what do you mean who is Brett Reid?! He’s the Green Hornet. Petco Park, home to the San Diego Padres opened the park area behind outfield to Comic Con this year. A building in the back had been converted into a garage featuring some of the old cars from the upcoming Green Hornet flick as well as the Green Hornet’s vehicle, the Black Beauty. After touring the garage, wouldn’t you know it, they gave me a tshirt! Gotta love Comic Con events.
Finally, it was time to head home. Call it a year and start to recuperate. Check out the photographic evidence of my adventures on the slideshow below. And check back Friday for a Comic Con sum up and what to expect from Brightboy Adventures in the coming year!
