DC Comics - Red Hood: The Lost Days #3
Talia has agreed to help Jason Todd train to kill Batman. Why, you ask? She sees it as a way to stall the young man from pulling off his plan. Perhaps if he has time to think about things, his mind will be cleared of this madness.
Jason enters the guidance of Egon, a trained killer, that is going to help Jason learn to kill his enemy. At Batman’s side, Robin was trained to defend himself, protect the innocent, and detain the bad guys - NEVER to kill though. To beat Batman and kill him, Jason would need to cross that line. And with Talia’s financial assistance, Egon is training Jason, who is still letting his anger control his fighting and not moving quick enough to end his enemies. After a fight where Jason takes a few hits, Egon sends him into town to have his ribs looked at. Along the way, Jason learns that Egon has some extra-curricular activities in addition to killing-for-hire and training former sidekicks. Upon further investigation, Jason learns that Egon is a human trafficker that needs to be stopped. After saving the children and destroying Egon’s facilities and crew, Jason faces off with his trainer. Egon is still a better fighter, but Jason is smarter - he poison’s Egon’s drink and watches the man fall dead to the ground.
Jason can kill, but this time it was to take an evil man out of the world. Talia sees this as a good sign that Jason’s moral compass is not completely corrupted and there still is hope for him. We’re halfway through the series and Jason Todd is still destined to be the Red Hood, where will he go next? Will his good nature seep through his anger? Red Hood: The Lost Days #4 hits September 4th.
