DC Comics - Red Hood: The Lost Days #2
Jason Todd has soaked in Ra’s Al Ghul’s Lazarus Pits, regained his mental awareness, realized he is alive again, and is in hiding from Al Ghul. Ra’s Al Ghul has put Talia on lockdown for her irresponsible actions. He believes that Jason Todd could go mad from his realization of what has happened since the Joker killed him. Talia still believes in Jason and his ability to return to his old life and through secret channels is keeping tabs on the young man. When Al Ghul’s men track him down, Jason takes them all down and disappears, from both of his hunters’ radars.
Jason Todd sees the headlines that Batman has recaptured the Joker and returned him to police custody. Todd is angry at the news that the clown was still alive. And he wants Batman to pay for not avenging his death. Jason has the intel to get close to Batman and thanks to Talia, the means to put a plan in place to draw the Dark Knight out. After a little leg work, Jason Todd has Batman out on watch for an arms deal involving the Penguin. This gives Jason time to plant a bomb on the Batmobile to end Batman’s life. The plan goes perfectly and as Jason watches Batman drive away, ready to set off the bomb. He couldn’t go through with it he tells Talia, once she is able to sneak away for a secret meeting. If he had blown Batman up, the mentor would never have known it was Jason that ended him. Jason wants Batman to look into his eyes before he dies, to understand why he is there to kill his former guardian. Jason asks Talia to help him prepare to face the detective hero.
This was another great piece of the puzzle that makes up the Red Hood. What will Jason Todd need to learn to defeat Batman? Why is Talia assisting in this madness, she loves Batman? Find out in the next issue of Red Hood: The Lost Days.
