Elsewhere, Aquaman is battling Black Manta while trying to protect Jackson Hyde, who is the new Aqualad. Aquaman is able to get a few good hits on Black Manta, but Black Manta is able to overpower Aquaman and stab him with his mini harpoon and electrocute him. In a last ditch effort, Aquaman is able to impale Black Manta with his trident and toss Black Manta in the path of an oncoming 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler then hits Black Manta and knocks him out for the moment. Since they need to get away from Black Manta, Aquaman tells the driver to just drive away as fast as he can. As they are leaving the site of the battle, Aquaman pulls out a box and hands it to Jackson. The box then begins to glow and opens revealing a map, to which Aquaman say that they must follow the map to wherever it leads.
The best part of the issue is when Deathstorm transports himself to New Mexico to the site where the white lantern sits. Until this point, no one has been able to lift the lantern. Not even the combined might of Hal Jordan, Sinestro, and Carol Ferris as the Star Sapphire. Deathstorm walks up to it and is able to "infect" it with his dark energy that makes him able to lift it. Just as Deathstorm is about to destroy the lantern to destroy everything living thing on Earth, the lantern speaks asking for an army. At that moment, black energy starts coming out of Deathstorm and begins collecting and forming into bodies. Once full formed, the bodies are told to rise and we then see that they are the 12 that were brought back to life by the white lantern at the end of "Blackest Night." Only difference is that these black lanterns are made from energy and are not the corpses of the person they take after.
Last page shows Martian Manhunter heading back to Mars and he there notices the giant white lantern symbol formed by the trees that obviously weren't there very long.
The series is really good at leaving good cliffhangers at the end of their respective issues. One of my main gripes about that issue is that the issue is starting to drag just a little bit. Hopefully they are able to pick up the pace and setup some really epic battles in the coming issues. This new development with the "new" black lanterns is an interesting turn of events. We'll just have to wait until next issue to see what happens next. What are your ideas on "Brightest Day#11?"
