DCUO Delayed...... AGAIN!

Today, many comic book fans and gamers received some ugly news. The news is that the highly anticipated game "DC Universe Online" is being delayed until early 2011. The game was slated to be released on Nov. 2, 2010. The following is the announcement what Sony Online Entertainment posted on their website earlier today:

"SOE is dedicated to delivering the highest quality game experiences possible," says John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment. "'DC Universe Online' is the first game of its kind, and a truly massive undertaking -- the first action MMO set in the DC Universe, the first MMO on the PlayStation 3, and the first time the entire DC Universe will be accessible to the millions of fans who are eagerly anticipating its release. As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way. When we get deeper into external beta, we'll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date."

Though the game is delayed, SOE gave some details about the upcoming beta. Those with VIP beta keys and those who have registered for the beta on the DCUO website will start receiving priority access to the beta as early as next week. For instructions on obtaining a beta key, go to the DCUO website for details. Those that pre-ordered the game will also be given access as the beta goes on.

Lastly, the silver lining to all the bad news of the delay, there will now be a PS3 collectors edition of the game. Previously, the collectors edition was exclusive to the PC version of the game. Both editions will be virtually identical in the items that come with them.

One can only hope that the delays will only help SOE put out a more polished product. This game has to meet to the high expectations that have been set by the fans eagerly awaiting the release of the game. In the meantime, they can enjoy the beta and practice becoming the "Next Legend"
